Our story and approach

Balance Yoga Studio emerged from a simple observation: people need spaces where they can slow down without pressure or performance expectations.

Why we started this studio

Founded in 2019, we wanted to create something different from typical fitness environments. Not a place focused on achievement or comparison, but one centered on individual exploration.

Each person arrives with different experiences, limitations, and goals. Our role is to facilitate their practice, not impose a rigid framework.

Sarah Jensen

Lead Instructor, Vinyasa & Flow

Sarah trained in Bali and India over five years, studying various traditions before developing her own teaching style. She focuses on making challenging poses accessible through proper alignment and breath awareness.

Her classes balance effort with ease, encouraging students to find their edge without crossing into strain.

Lars Mortensen

Restorative & Yin Specialist

Lars came to yoga through injury recovery and discovered the profound effects of slower practices. He completed additional training in anatomy and fascia to better understand how the body responds to passive stretching.

His teaching emphasizes patience and the value of doing less to achieve more.

Emma Larsen

Meditation & Breathwork Guide

Emma studied mindfulness-based stress reduction and various breathing techniques from different traditions. She brings a practical, accessible approach to meditation that works for busy, skeptical minds.

Her sessions provide concrete tools you can use in daily life, not just on the mat.

Teaching philosophy

We don't subscribe to one specific yoga lineage. Instead, we draw from multiple traditions to serve our students' diverse needs.

Classes are designed to be inclusive, with modifications offered so everyone can participate meaningfully. We avoid Sanskrit terms when plain language works better. The goal is clarity, not tradition for tradition's sake.

Most importantly, we recognize that some days you'll feel strong and open, other days tight and tired. Both are valid. Practice meets you wherever you are.
